How to treat yourself when you are sick


Hi! It's me again. Fortunately, I have been recovering from my illness. :)

It's been my first week of classes for the second semester & I already got a flu .. *gross*

oh well. Here is how I treated myself when I had a fever, colds & coughs at the same time. *poor girl*

If you have a fever, the first thing that you must do is to make sure that your room is not cold. Turn off your airconditioner or even your electric fan. When you have fever, you don't sweat & that's your goal. To SWEAT EVEN A LITTLE. Feel free to cover yourself with blankets but I don't do that thing anymore.. :)

When you sweat, means that your body temperature is lowering.. :)

Next, AVOID EATING ANY COLD FOOD. When I have a fever or cough, my throat really sucks. I don't know if the reason for my fever is tonsillitis or whatever. And so, I don't drink cold water, eat ice cream, etc. It will just stimulate throat pains.

Next, I WEAR A JACKET when I have to go out of the house. When you're in fever, you're weak against cold air and temperature. Also, jackets can keep you warm.. :)

This thing is the best when you have fever & colds, A WARM SOUP. Instant noodles, congee and whatever. I will also warm you up & it's not hard to eat it. Normally when you have a fever, you don't have the appetite to eat. Moreover, the taste of medicine which you took also lingers in your mouth.

Yeah, speaking of which, The best treatment is always been MEDICINE. If you have a fever, take Paracetamol or any anti-pyretic drug. :) If it's a cold, i take Neozep.. :) For coughs, my mom gives me some Robitussin or Solmux. Eventually, my brother wants to take Plemex. I don't know why :)

Another important advice is that you TAKE A REST. Avoid staying awake until late evening. You have to recover fast because maybe work is waiting, you have lessons that you missed in school or you have playmates waiting for you to come out. Just clear your mind. Sometimes, illnesses are from our personal stresses. :)

My simplest advice especially when you have a cold or fever is that you DRINK A LOT OF WATER. You're losing body water when you're in fever because your body temperature is above normal. It will help you replenish & feel better. Water also helps you get rid of colds.. :)
